STEPPING INTO DEMENTIA
I’m Not Sure What Comes Next After a Dementia Diagnosis
A dementia diagnosis can change the way you look at the future.
It may bring questions about health, independence, safety, finances, living arrangements, family roles, and what daily life could look like moving forward.
You do not have to answer all of those questions today.
Stepping Into Dementia is designed to help individuals, families, and caregivers better understand the diagnosis, prepare for what may come next, and begin making thoughtful decisions before a crisis happens.
A Place to Begin
Whether you have received the diagnosis yourself or someone you love has, it can be difficult to know where to start.
You may be wondering:
What does this diagnosis really mean?
What changes should we expect?
What should we be doing right now?
What decisions can wait?
How do we prepare without becoming overwhelmed?
When is it time to ask for additional help?
Stepping Into Dementia gives you a clearer starting point.
Twelve Modules. Four Phases. One Clear Plan.
Stepping Into Dementia takes you from understanding the diagnosis to planning, communicating as a family, and preparing for what comes next. Each phase builds on the one before it, at the pace that works for you.
PHASE 1
Understanding
Understand what is happening, where you or your loved one is in the progression, and which decisions need attention now rather than later.
PHASE 2
Planning
Turn what you know into a plan: care, safety, legal and financial preparation, and the conversations that are easier to have early.
PHASE 3
Family
Work through family conflict, caregiver guilt, and the questions around placement and later-stage care.
PHASE 4
The Road Ahead
Prepare for late-stage care and end of life with a plan that reflects personal values and wishes.

How Stepping Into Dementia Helps
Understanding the Diagnosis
Dementia can look different from one person to another.
Understanding what may be changing and why can help individuals and families respond with greater confidence and prepare for future needs.
We help you better understand the diagnosis, recognize important changes, and identify questions to discuss with healthcare providers.
Patient Advocacy
A diagnosis often leads to more medical appointments, new recommendations, and unfamiliar terminology.
We help you prepare for those conversations by identifying important questions, organizing concerns, and helping you better understand the information being shared.
The goal is to help you feel more prepared to participate in decisions about your care or the care of someone you love.
Planning Ahead
Planning ahead is not about assuming the worst.
It is about creating more choices and fewer rushed decisions.
We help individuals and families begin conversations around future care needs, living arrangements, support systems, personal wishes, and end-of-life planning.
Having these conversations earlier can help everyone involved feel more prepared later.
Care Coordination
Over time, additional providers, services, or levels of support may become part of the picture.
We help you understand how those pieces may fit together and what types of support may be available as needs change.
This can include understanding medical providers, home support, rehabilitation, assisted living, memory care, hospice, and other services that may become relevant.

How the Program Works
Stepping Into Dementia is written by Holly Reigh, LPN, drawing on nursing, hospice, and personal care home experience and on years of walking families through dementia. Every module ends with an action task, so you finish with real documents rather than notes: a progression snapshot, a decision list, a care plan, and a family communication plan.
- Twelve modules you work through online, at your own pace
- An action task in every module, so the work turns into something usable
- Guidance written for individuals and families, not for clinicians
- Optional care management support alongside the program

Stepping Into Dementia Can Be the First Step
You may not need ongoing professional support today.

As circumstances change, we can continue supporting you through:
Coaching the Caregiver
For individuals and families who need professional guidance and care coordination without regular in-person support.
In-Person Aging Life Care Support
For individuals and families who need someone physically present to provide advocacy, coordination, and ongoing support.
